There is a lot of controversy over Pan Macmillan's New
Writing fiction list. Macmillan is accepting
submissions from unagented new writers for this list. The new
writer gets 20% of royalties, but no advance. If the book
requires more than copy-editing, Macmillan suggests the writer
hire a freelance editor. Promotion will be minimal. Macmillan
gets ALL rights to the work, and can publish the writer's second
book under these same terms. CLICK

the authors aren't getting paid. The American Society of
Journalists and Authors is looking into this, and they are asking
writers for their help. "We'd ask that writers go to Amazon
and search under their names. If you find that your work is up
there and you know that you never licensed such uses, we'd ask
you to send an email to EMAIL
." CLICK
